About PARTNER

PARTNER is an approach that can be used to develop training and development programs in almost any type of organization.

I have been thinking about a way to communicate the steps necessary in creating effective training programs to individuals that have been tasked with doing just that for their organization. Larger companies typically have the resources necessary to invest in hiring a training team with the depth and experience necessary to reach the intended outcome of any training interventions that might be required. Smaller organizations typically assign the task to an individual who may or may not have the necessary skill set necessary to jump right in. Often this task falls to a subject matter expert of one ilk or another, based on what the decision maker feels is required. Sometimes the task falls to the new HR generalist that was hired because he or she took a course in administering a training and development program. Having had this training project thrust upon them, the questions begin: What do I do? Where can I get some help? Do I go by gut feel? Can I just wing it? What if it doesn’t work? And on the questions go.

My purpose with this blog is to bring my thoughts to the blogosphere, allow folks to comment, correct, or  simply read and nod. If all goes as planned, I will be able to pull all of this together and publish it as a volume that can be referred to and used as a guide for those who find themselves looking for a template to use when building their training and development programs.
